During a relationship is it not uncommon for one party to put money or assets in the name of their partner or spouse. Unfortunately, after the breakup, the main question becomes, who is the real owner of the property held in the name of the other spouse?

Spouses often give each other jewelry as a sign of affection.  It is given as gifts for holidays, offered as an apology for transgressions, and wedding sets are exchanged.  But what happens to the jewelry when you separate?

Many people have basic assumptions about what spousal support is and who is entitled to it.  Water cooler talk further confuses the issue because advice is given among co-workers, friends and others and more often than not, the advice is inaccurate. 

The Government of Canada defines an international child abduction as occurring "when a parent, guardian or other person with lawful care of charge of a child removes that child from Canada, or retains that child outside Canada, without either the legal authority or permission of a parent who has full or joint custody rights."
